In dealing with an emergency, it is best not to make assumptions. Find out if there is an emergency or evacuation plan for your workplace or apartment building. Also, learn what the disaster services are in your area for the elderly or for people with disabilities.

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA)
This information is for FEMA Region IX, serving Arizona, California, Hawai`i, and other Pacific Islands. It describes Hawai`i's major disaster concerns and lists contact information for the lead organizations in disaster planning.

Civil Defense Agencies
There are Civil Defense Agencies located throughout the State of Hawai`i. There is a statewide Civil Defense Agency and one for each county. The City and County of Honolulu also has its own agency on the island of Oahu. Each Civil Defense Center provides local contact information as well as links to statewide resources on planning and responding to a disaster.
